Every day...

Today is one of those Fridays again!  I read a prompt and then get to spill my heart on whatever comes to mind.  So, here goes...

Ready.

Set.

Go.

Every day...

To me, so much in life is about choices, not about what you feel.  Every day, every moment, is an opportunity for me to take what God has given me and say yes.  Saying yes with acceptance and not stomping my feet, running away, slamming the door, or just plain crabbiness.  It's saying yes with joy and love and faith.  And, this is where the choice comes in.

Every day...

I am aware of my weakness, my limitations, my need for something to keep me going.  As a busy, homeschooling mom of six kids 9 and under, I know that I cannot "do this on my own".  People ask, "How do you do it?".  Well, the answer is that I do not do it alone...  every day my heart and mind must be consistently turned to our Lord in prayer...  formal prayer, spontaneous, intercessory prayer (calling upon saints and my own children or husband to lift me up in prayer) and even-when-I-don't-feel-like-it-forced prayer because that's when I am in most need of His grace.

"'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.'  I will rather boast most gladly of my weakness, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.  Therefore, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong."    (2 Corinthians 12:  9-10)

 Every day...

I grew up with a very strong upbringing and was taught that if you are going to do something, then do it to the best of your abilities.  My own mother (to this day) is rarely found sitting down resting.  She go, go, goes from the time she gets up to the time she goes to bed.  She implanted this gift of service into my heart and now my own children and husband get to benefit from it. I don't remember her leaving to go exercise, to meet with friends, attend book clubs, etc... because she would spend all of her time with us girls and my dad.  Every day she gave all her time and energy to love and bring us up.  She knew us better than anyone else because she took the time to get to know us and didn't send us on to someone who could look after and care for us.  I am forever grateful for this example and the continuous love she showed to me.  Now it's my turn...  to live on this example.  To take each day as a gift from God and offer my duties as wife and mother to Him.  Every day matters.  Every day is one step closer to reaching our final home in heaven.

"There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens."  (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Ding!

Now it's your turn to read, pray, think, and type away....

  1. What a wonderful post. I am glad that you're the one that linked right before me or I might have missed reading such an inspiring post. I have raised 7 children (not all of my birthing) and have 3 remaining. I had 5 under 6 at one time, with 2 of those being under 2. Isn't it a wonderful adventure? I love being a mama and loved having a large family. :)

May Our Father continue to bless you and your beautiful family. Your sis in Christ, Suz
