Answer Me This!!

Joining up with Kendra's summer installment of Answer Me This.

She picks the questions.  I get to answer them.

1. How long have you lived in your current home?
Neil and I moved here when I was pregnant with Fone.  We lived in an adult-only apartment before that, so when we found out I was pregnant, we knew we have to find a new place to live.  Believe it or not, we bought the house from my brother-in-law's parents.  So, my brother-in-law grew up here!! Super cool!  So how long??  14+ years now and hoping and praying for many more!

2. How do you find out about news and current events?

**Facebook - seriously!!
**apps on my phone
**hubby - he always fills me in with what is important

3. Would you be able to make change for a twenty right now? For a dollar?

Yep, only because I just got done paying kids allowance for their chores and had to take some cash out.  Normally, not.

4. What's the craziest food you've ever eaten?

Calamari, at a fancy restaurant for an anniversary celebration years ago- never. again.
(let's just say that I was a tad turned off by the tentacles!  Eeeewwww!)

5. Which of the commonly removed parts have you had removed? (tonsils, wisdom teeth, appendix, etc.)

only wisdom teeth, removed when I was a teenager

6. What's your favorite sport to watch on TV?

Olympics - mostly ice skating and gymnastics. No regular sports-watching as a hobby of mine.

Answer Me This #2

My second round of Answer Me This and it may be the last, if Kendra doesn't get a good turn-out.  Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.  But after you read mine, click on the AMT image and join in on the discussion and let's help keep it going!!

1.  What is your favorite picture book?
We are big fan of the classics and have quite a few of them in hardcover Usborne prints.  We love Dr. Suess.  And, Sandra Boynton.  Okay, so obviously not just one favorite picture book.  Oh yeah, and another favorite, that we all practically know by heart....

Definitely going to be ordering My New Baby as Kendra suggested since we'll have one soon (in 7 weeks!!!) and will keep my eyes open for anything else fun that stands out as I read the other suggestions.  How fun!  And, yet how dangerous!  I can see my amazon cart filling up now - doh!

2.  Are you a boycotter?
Nah.  Mostly lean on my husband and his leadership on this one.  If we boycotted every business that didn't support 100% of our beliefs we would have nowhere to shop, and I need to keep feeding and taking care of this crew that God has blessed me with.

3.  How do you feel about cheese?
Nummy num!  Gotta stay stocked in our house - shredded cheddar, shredded mozz, parmesan, and mexican cheese.  I especially like to hear Rose say the word, because it is almost always followed by a bright, BIG, beautiful smile...

4.  How many pairs of sunglasses do you own?
one pair - my magnetic sunglasses that clip on to my glasses.  I know - boring, but practical.  I am not much of a fashionista girl.

5.  How long has it been since you went to the dentist?
I went last month.  I go regularly and am seen every 6 months for check-ups.  At my appointment in July, doc said I need to come back in after our little guy is born to have a gum transplant surgery to cover up some receeding gums.  Pretty soon the root is going to be exposed - doh!  NOT looking forward to that....

6.  If you could visit any religious site in the world, where would you go?
The Vatican and all the beautiful sites surrounding it, of course!  :)

Answer Me This (my first stab at it!!)

This is my first "Answer Me This" blog link-up at Catholic All Year.  I was supposed to answer six questions to share a little bit about myself.  Easy enough, eh?  Here's my sharing....

1. What’s something you've won and how did you win it?

I won a family Weight Loss Challenge that my sisters, brothers-in-law, and husband took part in a couple years ago - I wish I could say it was because I exercised a ton and lost a lot of weight, BUT I only lost like 6 pounds but I kept it off, unlike others who lost and gained and lost and gained.

But most importantly, I won this guy's heart and that is all by God's grace and blessings.....

Out of all the gals in the world, for some strange reason *I* won his heart and have kept it all these years!!   Fourteen years of marriage and going strong!!  Love you, baby!!!  Happy birthday today!!!

2. Do you save old greeting cards and letters, or throw them all away? Why?
Yeah, I am a saver...  for now, I am keeping birthday cards and bind them together in a very simple way.  Each kiddo has their own plastic tub where a packet of their school stuff and birthday cards go in each year.  Neil and I have one plastic tub for birthday cards and Mother's Day/Father's Day cards the kids give us too.  Everything else gets tossed after it has hung up on a door or hallway for a month of two (or til the next bday).

3. When you’re at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?
Summer - barefoot
Winter - slippers or socks

4. Who’s the most famous person you have ever met?
Donna Marie Cooper O'Boyle, Johnettte Benkovic, Danielle Bean, Ralph Covert/Ralph's World (sings THE best kids' music!!!), and most importantly, Our Lord Jesus every time I go to Mass and adoration

5. What has been your best work of art?
A work of art is a creation, right??  Two things come to mind - my blog is a creation of our memories and my gift to my family -AND-  I have been blessed as a momma to co-create 7 beautiful children (8 come October).  THEY are my BEST "works of art", I would most definitely say....

6.  What’s your strongest sense?
Hee hee, I am pretty talented and gifted (or as my husband would tease me 'hyper-sensitive")  in three of the senses....

***I SMELL things first, well before anyone else, and even things that don't exist (in the middle of the night - "honey, I smell smoke")

***the sense of TOUCH is super strong in me too - I can feel the tiniest crumb or sticky spot on my feet and I hate to go barefoot outside

***I am ultra-sensitive to the sense of HEARING as well (again in the middle of the night, I hear every creak or groan or cough or bang, etc.... - especially sounds that don't even exist)
