Since Pookey's birthday is so close to Christmas, we are going to try our best every year to make it extra special and celebrate *him* instead of just letting his birthday celebrations blend into all the Christmas festivities. So, Neil took the day off work and we went out to eat for lunch and spent the afternoon at a local museum. Here's some pictures of our special day....
What a blessing it has been since we had kids that St. Nicholas has always visited our family on his feast day (December 6th) instead of on Christmas. He lets Jesus' birthday be all about Jesus and it helps our kids focus even more on that special day. And, in doing so, all the fun on his day (Dec 6th) can be all about him! Here's a look in pictures of St Nick's day this year....
**One of my favorite things looking back at these pictures is seeing all the bleary-eyed children. The kids get up WAY too early and it always shows in the pictures!
O good holy Nicholas,
you who brought joy to children,
put in my heart the spirit of childhood
about which the Gospel speaks.
Teach me how to sow
happiness around me. Amen.
